AIB Leinster Club IHC Round 1
Delvin 0-11
Naomh Bríd 1-12
A huge well done to our senior hurlers who had to overcome a resilient Delvin side on home turf to get their Leinster campaign off to a winning start. This was always going to be a tricky affair, coming 9 weeks after our Intermediate championship win and hot off the heels of football finals last weekend with many of our OL & Leighlin dual players in action. Delvin themselves had just tasted success on Tuesday night too winning the Westmeath Senior B championship and carried massive momentum into this game.
While there were one or two cobwebs early on, these were quickly dusted off and our lads started to find their groove. The swirling breeze and changing weather was a big factor - sun in the eyes in the first half and torrential downpours in the second. In the end, we edged the battles, coming out with a lot of ruck ball, moving it well and picking off some lovely scores. It was winter hurling and our lads wanted it that bit more. We couldn't be more proud of their efforts.
Next Up is a QF clash against the Dublin champions in 2 weeks. This will be a big test but one these lads will relish.
Finally, a quick word of thanks to our loyal supporters who made the long trip up to Clonkill. Your voice, your support makes all the difference and we are so grateful.
Onwards we go 🇧🇭🇧🇭
