As the dust settles on what was a memorable weekend for the Carlow men's and ladies footballers, a phenomenal stat has come across our desk.

The first Carlow men's player to make that famous walk up the steps of the Hogan Stand was Mark Brennan when he captained the Carlow senior hurlers to win the Christy Ring final vs Down in 2009.

And last weekend, Mikey Bambrick became the first player to captain Carlow senior footballers to a trophy in Croke Park with their famous win over Longford in the Div 4 final. Not a bad feat for a small, rural parish like ours. 

It takes an immense amount of sacrifice to play both codes, let alone play at the highest level. We are immensely proud of all our dual players (male & female) and their contribution to club & county.
